Keep your board in great shape!

Washing

Wash after each use with warm water and a little dish soap, dry immediately after with a towel.

  • I recommend not leaving food on the cutting board for long periods of time. The board is treated with mineral oil and beeswax so it will repel water, juices, and such but it's just much easier to clean soon after it's used. The easier it is to clean, the less soap you have to use, and the longer the wax finish will last on the board.

  • Do not wash in the dishwasher, under any circumstance!

  • Do not soak the board in water.

Upkeep and Oiling

We have provided a can of board butter with your cutting board purchase. This should be used occasionally to refinish and protect the board.

If you are using your board consistently we recommend oiling about once a month. Below is an example process

1.) Wash the board by following the steps above.

2.) Dry with a towel and let the board sit until it is completely dry.

3.) Apply Board Butter all over the board (a little goes a long way), this is a mineral oil and beeswax mixture that will create a barrier against water and food born bacteria.

4.) After letting the wax sit, we recommend 30 minutes, buff off the wax, in circular motion, with the rag from above. Done!

This may seem like a lengthy process but it doesn't take very long at all and will keep your board in tip top shape!

Sanding

After heavy use of your board you will start to notice knife marks, these marks can easily be removed by some simple sanding. I recommend starting out with some 120 grit sandpaper and moving up to 180, and then 220. After you are finished sanding, wipe the board down with a clean rag to remove sanding dust. Once the board is clean and smooth, reapply the board butter by following the steps above.
